Argonaut Rowin Club | Why We Row
Founded in 1872, the Argonaut Rowing Club (ARC) is one of Canada’s oldest and largest clubs. The club has continued to play a significant role in this classic, demanding and rewarding sport of rowing. Watch as ARC alumni discuss their relationship with rowing and the role it plays in each of their lives. Their dedication to reaching their goals is nothing short of admirable. The ARC is open to anyone interested in rowing regardless of your experience level or end goals. To find out more information watch the full video series here.
Meet Elliot, he turned his high-school sport into a life-long passion. “Like everything in life, you get out what you put in” and there’s no difference with rowing. Elliot is a high-endurance athlete focused on seeing improvement everyday he gets into his boat.
Meet Martha, she found her athletic spirit later in life. After seeing her niece participate in numerous regatta’s she found herself drawn to the sport of rowing. Martha took the (Learn to Row) course at the ARC where she became hooked and never looked back. Unfortunately, Martha lost her life due to a car accident shortly after finishing production on this project. Her video played at her memorial and reminds us that it’s never too late to learn something new and discover a new passion.
Meet Pierre, he was looking for a way to stay active without having to go to the gym and discovered rowing. What he found at the ARC was more than just a workout but a sense of community and belonging. When Pierre was younger he was not athletic at all. Since joining the ARC he has lost a considerable amount of weight and gained a sense of confidence that wasn’t there before. Pierre now sits on the Board of Directors at the ARC and is responsible for introducing others to the sport of rowing.
Meet Amanda, she is part of the junior program at the ARC. It’s inspiring to hear how much passion this girl has for rowing and the focus that drives her to wake up every morning and push herself and her team to be better each and every day.
